• Research Center of Resources and Eco-environment

    Introduction


    The Center of Resources and Eco-environment Research(Fishery Eco-environment Monitoring Center, Ministry of Agriculture)is a science and policy research institute in association with Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences and its office is situated in 6th floor of resource-environment building of CAFS. At present, there are 16 staffs serving for the center, 7 with senior title(among them 1 with supervisor of PhD candidates , 2 with supervisor of master students), 8 with middle title, 1 with primary title. The Center consists of 3 research groups, undertaking studies of fishery resources, fishery eco-environment, protection of wild animals and plants. Meanwhile the center also engaged in technology supports and harmonies for fishery resources, fishery eco-environment, protection of wild animals and plants issues. In addition, the center is also the carrier of Key Field Monitoring Station for Fishery Resource and Eco-environment, MOA and the Key Open Laboratory of Fishery GIS and RS Application, CAFS, takes up with RS and GIS application in fishery and eco-environment monitoring research.

    Key research fields


    (1)Protection and Management of Fishery Resources
    Protecting layout and stratagem of living aquatic resources; RS monitoring and evaluation of living aquatic resources and eco-environment of key fishery areas; data integration of living aquatic resources investigation; construction of scientific data platform; development and application of GIS on fishery; value evaluation of living aquatic gene resources; construction of technology system of aquatic gene resources protection areas.

    (2) Monitoring and Evaluation of Eco-environment
    Protecting layout and stratagem of country fishery eco-environment; institutional construction; data integration; assessing technology of monitoring of countrywide fishery eco-environment; RS monitoring and evaluation of eco-environment of key fishery areas; supporting technology of investigation and compensation of pollution accident in fishery water area; impacts of aquaculture on eco- environment; risks evaluation on fishery products safety and fishery resource in emergence pollution events.

    (3)Protection and management of wild animals and plants
    Laws, regulations and policies of protection of rare endangered aquatic wild animals and plants; technological system of protection, releasing, rescue of rare endangered aquatic wild animals; impacts of exotic aquatic species on fishery; natural reserves of rare endangered aquatic wild animals and plants.

    (4)Fish genetic and breeding research
    Developing new approaches for rapid establishment of genetically improved families and pure lines via the combination of three breeding methods, including quantitative genetics, gynogenesis and molecular marker-assisted breeding; illustrating the characteristics and mechanisms of new strains obtained by pure line hybridization; studying molecular genetic markers and mapping QTL using the pure lines, in order to achieve all female and thoroughbred culture of flatfish species.
