2009 CAFS-FRA-NFRDI Presidents’ Meeting held in Hainan

Nov.4 2009 CAFS-FRA-NFRDI Presidents’ Meeting was held in Hainan. CAFS president Zhang Xianliang, vice president Liuqing, president of Fisheries Research Agency of Japan (FRA) Akira Nakamae, president of National Fisheries Research and Development Institute of Korea (NFRDI) Gwang Soo Lim attended the meeting.

More than 20 experts from China, Japan and Korea participated in the meeting, and Vice president Liuqing presided it over.

During the meeting, Zhang Xianliang, Akira Nakamae and Gwang Soo Lim delivered speeches separately. The three leaders retrospected exchange and cooperation achievements on fisheries science and research. Combining serious and important issues we are faced with on fisheries development in Asia and around world, the three leaders put forward that we should deepen our cooperation, strengthen mutual benefits and win-win situation.

The meeting reviewed the progress made by the three fisheries institutes in the main fields in recent years; on this basis, the meeting also put forward an advice that the three countries should further deepen cooperation in aquaculture research. Under the framework of 2006 Memorandum of Understanding, the three parties reached a consensus that we will cooperate on artificial reefs, sea ranch and large jellyfish. The three parties also signed the minutes of this meeting.

Seminar on artificial reef and sea ranch was also held during this meeting.
