JSNFRI’s Expert Visits East China Sea Fisheries Research Institute (ECSFRI)

Dr. TIAN Yong-jun from Japan Sea National Fisheries Research Institute (JSNFRI), Fisheries Research Agency visited ECSFRI, CAFS for a three day academic exchange from April 1-3, 2008. During the visit, Dr. TIAN Yong-jun gives five lectures including “Climate change on the marine ecosystem”, “speedy report of sea conditions in Japanese fisheries”, “mapping and operation”. In the presentations, Dr. TIAN Yong-jun reviews the research progresses in fishing ground oceanography and fishery climatology. The effects of climate change on small planktonic fish resources and marine ecosystem are introduced, with Japanese sea and Pacific Saury (Cololabis saira) as case studies. The effects of global climate change on Japanese sea marine resources are analyzed and future prospects in the research on climate change and marine resources are also discussed. In addition, Dr. TIAN Yong-jun introduces sea condition forecasting system and method used in Japanese fishing ground and. During the visit, he also visits Key& Open Laboratory of Remote Sensing& Information Technology Application in Fisheries and Laboratory of Fishery Resources.
